|Who We Are|
This web site was developed by the Valparaiso Project on the Education and Formation of People in Faith, a project of Lilly Endowment based at Valparaiso University. The Valparaiso Project launched PracticingOurFaith.org as a way to extend the invitation offered in Practicing Our Faith: A Way of Life for a Searching People (1997; second edition, 2010). Both book and website explore twelve time-honored practice shaped by the Christian community over the centuries and still richly relevant to contemporary experience. These Christian practices are shared activities that address fundamental human needs and that, when woven together, form a way of life that is faithful and has integrity.
The Valparaiso Project has sought to encourage creative thinking and writing on practices foundational to a Christian way of life. To learn about our publications, please visit the Bookstore, Resources, and Library sections of this Web site.
The Valparaiso Project Grants Program (2000-2006) provided financial support for activities designed to help specific communities nurture a way of life shaped by Christian practices. These grants enabled creative leaders to strengthen teaching, learning, and reflection on Christian practices within the varied contexts where people engage in practices. Summaries of these projects can be viewed in the Resources section of this Web site.
